With slogans, people and companies try to convey a message to you. But politicians and political parties also communicate deliberately in order to persuade you. In the EDUbox Persuasion, young people discover which techniques are used and what propaganda actually is. They discover that persuasion can be both positive and negative. And they also create their own poster with slogan to convince others of their message.

What’s in the EDUbox Persuasion?
You are constantly bombarded with slogans, advertisements, and other types of messages. They influence your behaviour and choices, sometimes without you even realising it. But how exactly does that work?
With the EDUbox Persuasion, young people first learn about the purpose of slogans and how messages can be made more powerful. This applies to advertising, but equally to communication by politicians and political parties.
Through clear examples, students learn to distinguish between persuasive communication and propaganda. They discover which techniques are commonly used and come to understand that propaganda is not necessarily negative.
Students then put this knowledge into practice by analysing real examples. They also get creative with a tool developed especially for this EDUbox, in which they design their own political campaign.
