The EDUbox Politics aims to give young people insight into how decisions are made. How do you convince people of your ideas, how do you get them realized? What steps exist to get from an idea to a policy? By asking young people about what concerns them and what ideas they have for the future, EDUbox teaches them how these ideas can come to life through politics.

What’s in the EDUbox Politics?
Every citizen has a voice and can use it to help bring about change. But politics is complex: politicians often seem to promise a lot, yet struggle to turn those promises into reality. Why is that? And what actually happens to your vote?
In the EDUbox Politics, young people learn how the political system works. They start by organising a school party themselves. From that experience, they reflect on the similarities with politics and think about what politics really means to them. Do they associate it with negative or positive feelings?
Next, they dive deeper into the political world through three key aspects: political vision, political communication, and the political system. The first two are briefly explained—more in-depth material can be found in the EDUbox Ideology and the EDUbox Persuasion. The final aspect focuses on the different characteristics of a democracy. Students then explore the various stages through which a vote is translated into policy, with cooperation playing a crucial role.
They then put this knowledge into practice. In a game developed especially for this EDUbox, Road to Consensus, students work in groups to form a government. They must make policy decisions while also keeping an eye on the budget. In the final section, students discover other ways they can participate and make their voices heard.
